IAEA head states deal is done with Iran on continuing examination
“In Cairo today, agreed with Iran’s Foreign Minister Araghchi on practical modalities to resume inspection activities in Iran. This is an important step in the right direction,” Grossi said in a post on the social media platform X. He also expressed appreciation to Egypt’s foreign ministry and its top diplomat for their role in facilitating the agreement, adding, “Grateful to Egypt’s Badr Abdelatty for his commitment and engagement.”
Egypt has been acting as a mediator between Tehran and the UN’s nuclear watchdog after Iran halted cooperation with the agency. Tehran had accused the IAEA of bias in the wake of recent US and Israeli strikes.
Earlier Tuesday, the Egyptian and Iranian foreign ministers met in Cairo to discuss bilateral ties and the Iranian nuclear issue.
