Iran Warns US, Israeli Interests Could Face Retaliation
In a social media post published Sunday following an Israeli airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburbs that reportedly left at least two people dead and 11 others injured, Qalibaf accused the United States of backing Israeli military actions.
“The naval blockade against the Iranian nation and America's green light today to the Zionist regime (Israel) turn American and regime bases and assets in the region into legitimate targets,” he wrote.
He also stressed Iran’s military readiness, stating: "Our armed forces are always ready to respond."
Qalibaf further accused both the United States and Israel of undermining ceasefire efforts and dismissing diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing tensions.
“They are neither committed to a ceasefire nor believe in dialogue,” he said, adding that Tel Aviv and Washington “only understand the language of force.”
The comments came after Israeli forces carried out airstrikes in Beirut’s southern suburbs. Israeli officials said the operation targeted what they described as a Hezbollah infrastructure facility in the area.
According to reports, Israeli authorities informed the United States about the strike before the operation was carried out.
The latest remarks reflect ongoing tensions in the region, where military actions and political disputes continue to fuel concerns about further escalation.
