Iran Restricts Western Airspace After Missile Strike on Israel
Officials said the decision was based on security assessments made after the escalation in regional hostilities. The move comes amid rapidly rising tensions between Iran and Israel linked to recent military activity in the region.
The restrictions were introduced hours after Israeli airstrikes hit Beirut’s southern suburbs, which prompted a series of Iranian missile launches toward northern Israel.
Israeli media reported multiple waves of incoming missiles on Sunday evening, describing it as the first such attack since a ceasefire took effect on April 8. One report said the strikes included several barrages, with at least one wave consisting of four missiles.
According to Israeli broadcaster, some damage was reported in the city of Tiberias following the attacks.
Air operations at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv were also temporarily suspended as a precaution, the broadcaster added, while air defense systems were activated across several regions.
