US Strikes Target Parts of Southern Iran
A news outlet reported that US fighter jets carried out attacks targeting Sirik, Qeshm Island, and Minab, with the agency confirming that at least six explosions were heard across the struck areas. Iranian state TV separately confirmed that a projectile made direct impact on the city of Sirik.
Further strikes were subsequently confirmed by Iranian state media, which reported that several projectiles also hit Qeshm Island, though the precise nature and scale of the impacts remained unclear. Air defense systems were activated across Bandar Abbas, Qeshm, and Sirik as the assault unfolded.
A news agency added to the emerging picture, reporting four distinct explosions at Jask port alongside an additional blast on the outskirts of Bandar Abbas.
The strikes followed a formal announcement by US Central Command (CENTCOM) that American forces had initiated what it characterized as "self-defense" operations against Iran — a direct response to the downing of a US Army Apache helicopter during a prior confrontation.
