Explosions Reported Near Iran's Sirik Port

(MENAFN) Late Friday, explosions rocked the southern Iranian port of Sirik, Iranian state television reported. Citing officials from Iran's Hormozgan governorate, the broadcaster confirmed the detonations followed warning shots fired by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) near the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier, a semi-official news agency reported that local residents described hearing "blast-like" sounds echoing across sections of Qeshm Island and along the coastal zones of Sirik County.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding casualties or structural damage.
