Starmer Voices Support for Trump's Iran Peace Push

(MENAFN) British Prime Minister Keir Starmer held a phone call with US President Donald Trump on Saturday, throwing London's weight behind Washington's diplomatic drive to end the war with Iran, the UK government confirmed.

Starmer welcomed the momentum building in the negotiations while underlining that any resulting accord must deliver "a durable and lasting peace." The British leader also signaled London's readiness to play an active role in implementing a future peace agreement and coordinating with international partners to ensure its durability.

Both leaders aligned on the need to restore freedom of navigation, citing the mounting economic fallout being felt across global markets. The two agreed to maintain close communication in the days leading up to next week's G7 summit in France.
